Most people want to stay in their own home (or a home setting) as long as they possibly can. However, it is common that care needs increase as illness progresses and physical health declines. Caregiver burnout is real and it is common! Physical and emotional exhaustion, increased stress, limited support and lack of respite are among the top reasons why caregivers burnout and end up physically ill and emotionally drained.
Anam Cara Caregiving, is a 501(c)3, nonprofit in Lander, WY providing custom caregiving, education and emotional support wherever you call home, collaborating with an established medical team (like home health and hospice) to implement an individualized plan of care—so caregivers can stay engaged, connected, and healthy while individuals requiring care are able to experience comfort, quality of life and safety at home. Sarah works with a team of caregivers to offer various services and levels of care to customize individual needs, including chronic illness support, hospice support, and dementia support.
Services Available:
Personal care
Incontinence care
Assistance with activities of daily living
Assistance to and from bed, chair, commode, toilet
Routine skin care, including repositioning in bed/chair per medical plan of care
Scheduled and as-needed medication reminders
Collaboration with all medical team members to best meet psycho-social-emotional-physical needs based on the plan of care
Meals and snacks preparation and eating assistance
Bowel monitoring and maintenance
Communication with family regarding care needs and patient status
Laundry services
Companionship
Light household cleaning and organizing
Safety check-ins
Caregiver Coaching
Medication review and organization (RN only)
With over 40 caregivers (a mix of unlicensed companions, RNs, PTs, and CNAs) on the team who are supervised and trained personally by four experienced RN Case Managers, the company philosophy is core to the services provided at Anam Cara Caregiving.
Cost of Care
Anam Cara cares for the entire caregiving system in order to ensure that the highest quality of care is always given to you or your loved one. Our structure is a thoughtful reflection of value–value that is expressed in physical and emotional care, dependability, and consistency. We believe that nothing could be more important than showing up, wholly and reliably, in times of progressive illness and at the end-of-life.
We know that the cost of care to stay at home–or to keep your loved one at home–can be a powerful barrier in receiving care. In 2021, we reincorporated as a 501c(3) nonprofit to help reduce the burden (and anxiety) of caregiving expenses. We accept donations and apply for state and federal grants to offset the true cost of care. For ways to support our work please visit our Give Now page. To help you understand our model of care, and the importance of subsidized care (what we refer to as shared care), we have provided a breakdown of costs below:
Special circumstances:
Short Shifts (shifts under 2 hrs): $50/hr (Not eligible for Shared Care discount)
Couple Care (care for couples living together): Add $10/hr to Base Rate
Weekend Care (Friday 5p - Mon 8a): Add $3/hr to Base Rate
Custom Care Design Fee (one time start-up fee)
1-40 hrs/week: $250
41-168 hrs/week: $500
